Who We Are

Base Metals Mining Operation

Grovenor Resources Zambia Limited established its first base-metals mining operation in 2006 in the Democratic Republic of Congo through the leadership of Mr. John Kalenga and M&J Investments SPRL. The company continues to expand its regional mining activities, holding a prospecting permit for gold, tin, and tantalum in the Kalomo District of Southern Zambia. In addition, Grovenor has secured a 10-hectare site along the main trunk road to Kabwe, where construction has begun on a dedicated storage and logistics facility for the processing of metal ores and concentrates.

Grovenor Resources SA operates as a wholly owned subsidiary and formal branch of Grovenor Resources Zambia Limited. The South African arm serves as the group’s commercial and strategic hub, strengthening cross-border market access, coordinating regional partnerships, and supporting the growth of Grovenor’s mining and mineral-processing operations across Southern Africa.

Our Journey & Process

01

Development

The company was able to obtain a mining concession after completion of Geological surveys for copper and cobalt at the Nimura hill in Luambo, 20km North east of Likasi Town, in the Province of the DR Congo.

02

Processing

M&J Investments then proceeded to invest in a full complement of mining equipment for open cast mining operations at the Nimura Hill concession.

The Company recruited over 150 Professionals and Employees from DRC, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Botswana & South Africa for its African operations.

04

Expansion

The Company launched Grovenor Resources SA to strengthen its presence in the South African and Namibian markets, creating a dedicated arm focused on commercial growth, regional partnerships, and cross-border opportunities. This strategic expansion supports the wider Grovenor Group in accessing new clients, improving logistics pathways, and broadening its footprint across Southern and central Africa.

Active Operation

Mumbwa Mine Operations

In 2015 Grovenor Resources Zambia Limited acquired a mining licence for Copper and Gold in the Mumbwa and Kasempa region issued by the Zambian Government mines Department. Operations have commenced at the Mumbwa mine after an Impact environment Assessment and securing the requisite license from the Zambia Environmental Management Agency.

  • Investment licence from Zambia Development Agency (ZDA).
  • Selling beneficiated 20% grade copper ore concentrate to Zalco limited.
  • Installed processing plant to produce Copper Cement.

Key Milestones & Installations:

  • New Copper Cement Processing Plant Installation.
  • Delivery of Power Line poles at Mumbwa Site.
  • Erecting power lines & clearing 12kms for lines.
  • Arrival and off-loading of equipment.
  • Constructions of foundations for Copper Cement Plant.
  • Erection of Solvent Extraction Plant.

Grovenor Resources Zambia Limited’s Mumbwa operation has transitioned into a strategic partnership with Jubilee Metals Group, who have acquired majority control to advance the next phase of development. By combining Grovenor’s exploration work with Jubilee’s processing and refining expertise, the project now forms part of Jubilee’s wider Zambian copper strategy aimed at delivering up to 25,000 tons of copper per year. This partnership boosts production potential, strengthens operational capacity, and secures Mumbwa as an important long-term copper asset for the region.

Legacy Operation

Nimura Hill Mine Operations

Nimura Hill Mine

M&J Investments invested in a full complement of mining equipment for open cast mining operations at the Nimura Hill concession in 2010. A qualified professional staff of 150 employees were recruited.

DMS Plant Installation

A DMS mineral processing plant was acquired from South Africa for beneficiation of the Copper and Cobalt ores with a 100 tonnes per hour feeding rate. The mined ore was generally averaging 2% mineral content which was upgraded to about 15-20% by the DMS plant.

Strategic Shift

Metal ores were traded on long term off-take contract with the Global Trafigura group. Despite Total Capital investment rising to US$15 Million, operational problems and changing regulations led to a strategic decision. The partners resolved to relocate the mining equipment to Zambia in 2011, incorporating Grovenor Resources Zambia Limited in a more stable environment.
